A lot of scripture to read today!

The days before Christmas are becoming less and less.  I figured it was time to do a little more than just lights on the tree.  It seemed to survive the new kitties so far, so let's try a few ornements.   My oldest daughter was one of the ones helping out tonight.

Unfortunately, the picture isn't so great as I am still trying to figure out how to resize them on this new computer.   It turned out very nice and even had a few real ornements on it, as to the safe ones that I have had to have on for almost 20 years!

As for the cookies, well, they were baked and made it back into the freezer for frosting at later date!

The spring flowers are still sprouting up, and there appears to be no snow coming for Christmas.   I am glad, but hope that we don't make up for it in rain.

I am trying to keep in mind that we have nothing to complain about as I hear so many other parts of the country aren't having it as nice right now.

Tomorrow we are visiting yet another church.  We are trying to find a home, but can't believe it is so difficult!  Anyone that has been there knows exactly what I mean!  What a time to be moving around from church to church!

I have found  something of interest that I printed out for myself to read over incase of any doubts that may come my way.  It is from     http://www.reviveourhearts.com/downloads/

I to listen to Revive Our Hearts on our local radio station.   I also like to read what Joshua Harris writes.   This came from both.

TEN IMPORTANT QUESTIONS

To Help You Explore and Understand a Church

By Joshua Harris

Use these ten questions to help you explore and understand a church

you’re considering. They work whether you’ve been there for two weeks or ten years. This list isn’t exhaustive, and some of the questions will take time to process. But they can help you hone in on the issues that matter most.

1. Is this church where God’s Word is faithfully taught? (2 Tim. 3:16)

2. Is this a church where sound doctrine matters? (Acts 2:42; 2 Tim. 4:3-4)

3. Is this a church in which the gospel is cherished and clearly proclaimed?

4. Is this a church committed to reaching non-Christians with the gospel?  (Matt. 28:18-20)

5. Is this a church whose leaders are characterized by humility and

integrity? (1 Tim. 3)

6. Is this a church where people strive to live by God’s Word? (James 1:22)

7. Is this a church where I can find and cultivate godly relationships?

8. Is this a church where members are challenged to serve? (Eph. 4:12)

9. Is this a church that is willing to kick me out? (1 Cor. 5; 2 Cor. 2)

10.Is this a church I’m willing to join “as is” with enthusiasm and faith in

God?

I know that no church is perfect, but as a struggling Christian it can be so easy to be swayed away from the Truth.  There are to many  "feel good" churches today.    Time has smoothed over so many gray areas moving over the line of acceptence that sometimes it is just to hard to go it on your own.  The I'm o.k, you're o.k.  is not acceptable to God.   In my own personal search, I am looking for a church family that will stand up to the beliefs that are true and stand to be persecuted for it.   The alternate of those who do not is not one that I want to have with me forever.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.  (Prov. 3:5-6)
