What clear, crisp, full moon evenings it has been here. I know for fact that it was beautiful because we were out horse chasing at 2:00 a.m.! The horses have gotten antsy with all the mud here at Muddy Boot, and they see greener pastures beyond their fencing. One horse can clear the electric fence. When the other two see this, they boldly take the next step to plow through and get to that grass too. They won't be left behind. Besides, the pain is for but a few seconds for which ever is daring to try first. I think they must draw straws!
During daylight hours. my second oldest son has it in his head to go shoot squirrel. Mind you, he has never shot anything as of yet. He hasn't even had the taste of squirrel. Well, he finally convinced my husband to take him out. Three shots, and he finally downed one.
I really don't think it is something I would like to try.
Anyway, he cleaned it out, skinned it, and is trying to dry the hide to see how it turns out. I hope he is as lucky come deer season!

We used to have horses. Your post sounds familiar! Cute picture of your son. If you have as many squirrels as we have gophers, I hope he'll have good luck with his shooting! May your hunting season be blessed............Denise (prairiemom)
My husband took our sons squirrel hunting one time when they were younger ... They came home and one announced to me, "Squirrel tastes good, Mom!" I tried not to get upset! LynnB (NDHomekeeper.blogspot.com)
I checked with my Dad who has had squirrel and he says its not bad, but he prefers raccoon. :P
